Oral Interpretation is a course designed to introduce students to the art of interpreting various forms of literature and to enhance presentational skills through practice and delivery.  Forms of literature featured in oral interp include prose, poetry, drama, non-original oratory, humor, reader’s theater, and dramatic duo.  Students will prepare cuttings from literature they select with emphasis on reading aloud for artistic expression.  After preparation of the cutting, students will perform and be critiqued by teacher and peers on the merits of performance.  Students who enjoy reading and speech or theater performance are encouraged to register. Participation in one speech contest is required with additional contests available.
