Topics of this class include the physical and chemical properties of matter and how these are used to form the basic layout of the periodic table of elements. The parts of the atom will be studied and applied to how elements form compounds and how these compounds react. This course will also investigate light waves and vision; sound waves and hearing; energy changes; electricity and magnetism and how motions and forces of objects can be applied to various sports. This course is an alternative science course for students whose needs cannot be met in the regular physical science course. This one credit course must be recommended by a teacher/counselor and meets one of the lab science requirements for high school graduation, but does not meet college entrance requirements.
