This course emphasizes DNA studies.  DNA fingerprinting will be done to identify genetic differences in organisms.  Pros and cons of genetic engineering in health, industry, environment and agriculture will be explored.  Basic inheritance patterns will be studied using pedigrees and experiments with fruit flies.  This course is recommended for students pursuing careers in plant or animal agriculture and natural resources; human or animal health care; horticulture; natural sciences; and industrial, environmental or agriculture biotechnology.
