AP Biology is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college introductory biology course.  AP Biology covers material outlined by College Board standards.  Topics taught include Molecules, Cells, Chemistry of Life, Heredity, Molecular Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, Diversity of Life, Plant/Animal/Human Physiology & Anatomy, and Ecology.  AP Biology uses lab experiences designed to correlate with the topics taught.

AP courses challenge students at a high level of thinking and faster pace.  Success in this course depends on your commitment to working hard.  It is recommended that you take at least Genetics or Anatomy/Physiology before taking AP Biology.  Students taking AP Biology should read at, or above, 11th grade level, write well, and be reflective thinkers.  College Board AP Biology exams will be given in May to any student wishing to take the exam.  Cost of the exam will be approximately $90.00.  College credit can be earned by passing this test.  Some colleges will give 8 semester hours or credit for earning a 4 or 5 on this test.
