Elementary Program 

Identified students in grades two through six, are eligible to participate in the GATE classroom which meets at Garfield School one half day each week. Each grade has a curriculum topic as a focus with
learning emphasis in research and technology.

 
After school classes are also available to identified gifted students. These classes are available during the months of October through April and are usually held from 3:45 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Watertown Middle School. Classes are in the areas of foreign languages, sign language, drawing, painting, science, geography, creative writing, technology, etc.

 
Within the regular classroom setting, curriculum modifications might include curriculum compacting, enrichment, tiered assignments, mentorship or subject acceleration to meet the needs of identified students.

Middle School

Students eligible for the gifted program in grades 7 and 8 may participate in accelerated reading and math classes at the Middle School. Within the regular classroom setting, curriculum modifications might include curriculum compacting, enrichment, tiered assignments, mentorship or subject acceleration to meet the needs of identified gifted students.
